this one just goes insane at about the 18 minute mark. i just listened to it today for the first time. talk about some scary, strange space music. i can't help but love every minute of it. does it really get weirder than this?

I thought 12-6-73 was the creepiest Dark Star? I guess it depends what's "creepy". Those '72 Stars, they do get into chaos now & then, but for the most part they're pretty upbeat. Fall of '73 is where you can find a run of Stars that have a heavier feel, and are full of spacy feedback and hairy screeches.

You like spacey feedback and hairy screeches?
Try this one, also from 12/73.

Imo, this 89 Miami Darkstar is, by far, the creepiest DS I've ever heard (and I've heard @90% of the available DS)

I think that was the best Dark Star played after 1974.

the heavy handed man behind the curtain/board had more to say than the band that night. i'll equate this dark star to what jan hammer might have drempt up after going to bed early after bad aloo palak and black yentil curry.

I love the "tiger" in that DS. Some of my top "creepiest" DS's are the already mentioned 12/6/73 DS, the 1/2/70 DS and the 11/8/70 version. I put 11/8/70 near the top on the basis of the mind crunching feedback, gongs, audience shrieks and space before going into the last version of the Main Ten jam. Try giving these a listen. The 1/2/70 version sounds like aliens landing in places. All good stuff! The 5/18/72 DS would also qualify as "creepy" in places.
